The new Florence and the Machine album Ceremonials is a fantastic follow up to the band’s debut album Lungs. Though it seems that Ceremonials is a bit softer with its beats, the intensity of lead singer Florence Welch’s voice is still very prominent.
Because Welch’s voice has such an organic quality, the band’s percussion compliments her vocals. There does not seem to be an excessive amount of external processing in the album, which gives it a natural feel.
The album may not be for everybody, but it is sure to please the band’s diehard fans, bring those on the fence closer to her side and has enough melody to reach new fans. For those who loved its first album, Ceremonials will not disappoint. It is a great sophomore release.
